OVERVIEW
A town that decided what it wanted to be
Farragut sits at the western edge of Knox County and covers about 16 square miles. It incorporated as its own town on January 16, 1980, and that single decision explains most of what you notice driving through it. Farragut writes its own zoning, runs its own parks, and has been deliberate about how it grows.
You feel it in the details. Signage is consistent. Subdivisions connect to greenways instead of dead ending. There is a visible plan underneath the whole place, which is exactly why some buyers fall for Farragut immediately and why others decide it is a little too tidy for them. Both reactions are fair, and I would rather you know which one you are before we spend a Saturday touring.
Housing skews newer than the older Knoxville neighborhoods closer to town, with a lot of traditional and transitional construction on generous lots. If you want 1930s bones, this is probably not your first stop. If you want space, storage and a garage that actually fits two cars, it very much is.
Living in Farragut
The places I actually send people.
Bring the Dogs
McFee Park and Mayor Bob Leonard Park
Both have dog friendly water fountains, which sounds like a small thing until it is August.
Founders Park at Campbell Station
The town promotes all three of these for outings with dogs, and Founders is the easy one to fit into a normal evening.
Summer Moon Coffee patio
Coffee with the dog at your feet. Hard to beat on a spring morning.
Get Outside
About 20 miles of greenway
Across more than 25 segments. That is a lot of connected trail for 16 square miles, and it is the single most underrated thing about living here.
Founders Park, McFee Park, Mayor Bob Leonard Park
Each has its own personality and locals have strong opinions about which is best.
Turkey Creek Wetland
The largest wetland in Knox County, with the greenway running past it.
Eat Local
Seasons Innovative Bar and Grille
The one for a real dinner out without driving into town.
Water Into Wine
Wine, live music, and a slower pace than the shopping centers nearby would suggest.
Pin Thai
The reliable weeknight answer.
Coffee
Summer Moon Coffee
Wood fired coffee and a patio. The default meeting spot out here.
Reef Coffee
Quick, good, and easy to work into a morning.
The French Market Creperie
When coffee should really be breakfast.
Things to Do
Farragut Museum
Small, free and genuinely worth an hour if you want to understand the place you are moving to.
Willow Creek Golf Club
Golf without leaving town.
Walk or bike the greenways
The town leans on this combination of parks, golf, local history and shopping, and it is a fair description of a Farragut weekend.
Shop
The Shoppes at Homespun
Local makers and vendors under one roof.
Village Green Shopping Center
The everyday stop.
The Pinnacle at Turkey Creek
Worth knowing: only the middle and western end of Turkey Creek is actually in Farragut. The eastern end is Knoxville. Most people get this wrong.
Give Back Local
The Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley and Young Williams Animal Center both serve this part of the county, and both need fosters as much as adopters. If you are landing in a house with a fenced yard and a little flexibility, fostering is the most useful thing you can do.

Questions people actually ask me about Farragut
What ZIP code is Farragut?
37934. If you are searching from out of state, that is the number to save.
Is Farragut part of Knoxville?
No, and this is the thing people are most surprised by. Farragut is its own incorporated town with its own government, its own zoning and its own parks department. It sits inside Knox County but it is not inside the City of Knoxville. That affects taxes and services, so it is worth asking me about if you are comparing a Farragut address against a Knoxville one.
Is Turkey Creek in Farragut?
Partly. Only the middle and western end sit in Farragut. The eastern end is Knoxville. It matters less for shopping than it does for understanding where a listing actually is.
How is the commute?
Farragut is the furthest west of the West Knox areas, so you are trading drive time for space. I 40 and 75 and Kingston Pike are both right there, but drive your actual route on a weekday morning before you commit. That is advice I give for every area and it matters most out here.
Is Farragut too planned?
For some people, honestly, yes. The consistency that makes Farragut feel calm and well kept is the same thing that makes it feel a little uniform to buyers who want older character and surprise. Neither reaction is wrong. Tell me which one you are and I will point you at the right part of the county.
Thinking about Farragut?
Tell me what you are looking for and I will tell you honestly whether Farragut is the right fit or whether you would be happier one exit east. That is a real conversation, not a pitch.
