Northshore and Choto, 37922

Water access, larger lots, and the quieter end of West Knox. This is where most of my lake conversations start.

The Northshore and Choto area near Knoxville, Tennessee.

OVERVIEW

Still Knox County. Feels like somewhere else.

Choto sits in West Knoxville between Farragut, Northshore Drive and Concord, following Choto Road out toward Fort Loudoun Lake. It is technically part of Knox County, which surprises people, because once you are down there it does not feel like the city at all.

The draw is the water and the land. Lots run larger, trees are mature, and a lot of properties sit near the lake or within easy reach of a marina. If your version of a good Saturday involves a boat, this is the part of the county to be looking at.

Housing runs from classic ranch and traditional two story homes through to newer builds with modern finishes. Waterfront, water view and water access are three completely different things with three completely different price tags, and listing language does not always make the distinction clear. That is a conversation worth having before you fall for something.

Living on this side of the lake

The places I actually send people. A couple sit outside the ZIP and I have said so.

Bring the Dogs

Concord Park Dog Park
The standout, because it gives dogs access to the water. If your dog swims, this changes your weekends.

The Cove at Concord Park
Room to roam and shoreline to walk.

Plus the dog friendly patios along Northshore when you want a drink and everyone comes along.

Get Outside

The Cove at Concord Park
The main way people get on the water around here.

Admiral Farragut Park
Quieter, and a good one to have in your pocket.

Carl Cowan Park
Shoreline, picnic space and an easy default on a warm afternoon.

Eat Local

Lakeside Tavern
On the water, and the one people bring visitors to.

Northshore Brasserie
Timeless brasserie food and a genuinely good date night.

Point B
The neighborhood option when you do not want to make an event of it.

Coffee

The Empty Cup
9111 Executive Park Dr NW, 37923
A nonprofit coffeehouse toward Cedar Bluff that donates profits to adoption and foster care programs. Worth the drive.

Five and Hoek Coffee Co
200 W Magnolia Ave, 37917
Downtown, so a proper outing rather than a quick stop.

Plus the West Knoxville and Farragut options, both a short drive.

Things to Do

Kayak or paddle at The Cove
The easiest way to actually use the lake rather than just look at it.

Fort Loudoun Lake
Boating, fishing and the whole reason people choose this area.

Golf at Gettysvue
Close enough to be part of a normal week.

Shop

Northshore Town Center
Everyday errands and dinner out without driving all the way to Turkey Creek.

Locally owned Northshore boutiques
Small, worth stopping for, and the reason this does not feel like a strip mall corridor.

Turkey Creek nearby
For everything else, a short drive up the road.

Give Back Local

The Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley serves this part of the county. Adopting, fostering, donating or volunteering all help, and a house out here with a yard and a lake nearby is a pretty good life for a dog who has been waiting.

Ready to call this side of the lake home?

Northshore runs across two ZIP codes. Pick the one you are searching, or look at both.

Questions people actually ask me about Northshore and Choto

What ZIP code is Choto?

37922. Northshore stretches across both 37922 and 37919, which is why there are two search buttons above.

Is Choto its own town?

No. It is part of Knox County, sitting between Farragut, Northshore Drive and Concord and following Choto Road toward the lake. It feels separate, which is most of the appeal, but it is not a separate municipality.

What is the difference between waterfront, water view and water access?

Everything, and it is the single most important question out here. Waterfront means the property touches the water. Water view means you can see it, sometimes only in winter once the trees are bare. Water access means you have a right to reach it, which can mean a shared dock or a community launch. Three different prices, three different lifestyles, and listing language blurs them constantly.

What should I ask about before buying near the lake?

Dock permitting, shoreline rules, what the lake level does seasonally, and whether that view stays a view once the trees leaf out. None of it shows up in photos and all of it matters. I would rather walk a property with you and point at the things worth asking about than have you find them at inspection.

How far is it to everything?

Closer than it feels. Northshore Town Center handles the everyday, Turkey Creek is a short drive for the rest, and Pellissippi Parkway gets you moving. The quiet out here works precisely because the convenience is not far behind it.

Looking at the lake?

Lake property is one of my favorite things to shop for, and one of the easiest to get wrong on your own. Let’s talk about what you actually want the water for, and I will point you at the right stretch of shoreline.
